This painting is a collaboration between 3 artists. Tegan has painted the turtle. Tegan first painted a canvas with the turtle for Tarisse to collaborate on as the Turtle is a very special animal in the Northern Territory where Tarisse grew up. Tarisse has painted the dotted water imagery around the turtle. Tarisse’s water series is a reflection on the importance of water to all life. Tegan has also painted the turtle’s reflection in the surface of the water. This surface reflects the ‘Ngurra’ imagery Sarrita has painted. Ngurra mean country in the Gurindji language. Sarrita paints the Ngurra imagery to reflect many types of country and landscape. In this case it is the sky and lightning flashing above the ocean where the turtle swims
