The background is almost black, thick and quiet, and the flowers push forward like light caught in a garden at night.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLalayan works the paint in short, loaded strokes. You can see where the knife lifted and dragged, leaving ridges of cream, buttery yellow, and soft pink. The petals are not drawn so much as built. Each bloom is a small architecture of paint, layered wet into wet, with green foliage cutting between the clusters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is a real sense of a still pond or a shadowed bed at dusk. The lower half of the canvas reads as reflection, greens and yellows pulling downward into the black. Blue tones sit behind the largest rose cluster, cool against the warm centre. A single yellow bloom stands on the right, slightly apart, holding its own light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe composition rewards a slow look. Up close it is almost abstract, all texture and gesture. Step back and the roses resolve, heavy headed and full. There is nothing decorative about it.
