Kudditji Kngwarreye
Anmatyerre / Alyawerre · Utopia, NT · c. 1928 – 2017
Kudditji Kngwarreye (c. 1928–2017) was Emily Kame Kngwarreye's younger brother and the undisputed master of the colour field style in Aboriginal art. His atmospheric, Rothko-like compositions of broad colour washes were created without any knowledge of Western art movements — a remarkable parallel that makes his work all the more extraordinary.
