Jeannie Mills Pwerle is an accomplished Aboriginal artist born in 1965, from the Utopia region in Central Australia. She is a member of the Alyawarre language group, with ties to Irrultja and Atnwengerrp. Her mother Dolly Mills, and her great aunt, the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye, are celebrated figures in the Aboriginal art world, while her uncle, the late Greeny Purvis, was a prominent artist and ceremonial leader.

Jeannie’s distinctive paintings predominantly focus on the Anaty (Bush Yam) Dreaming, a sacred subject in her culture. The Anaty is a key traditional food source and holds deep spiritual significance. Her works are recognised for their vibrant energy, featuring abstract representations of the yam’s root system and seeds, with intricate patterns of coloured lines and white dots. Each brushstroke often blends multiple tones, creating rich, dynamic compositions. Jeannie’s abstract use of colour offers viewers an immersive visual experience that evolves with changing light.
