This vertical composition pulses with the rhythm of Mina Mina, a Country of profound significance to Napangardi and Napanangka women west of Yuendumu. Bands of colour ripple outward from a central spine — ochre red, deep cobalt, soft pink and luminous yellow — each stripe laid down in the dotted, dragged brushwork that has become a signature of the artist's hand.

At the top and base of the panel, rounded triangular forms anchor the composition like ceremonial markers, framing the swelling current of stripes between them. These forms evoke the karlangu, the digging sticks that emerged from the ground at Mina Mina during ancestral times and were carried east by the women as they travelled, dancing and singing the Country into being. The horizontal bands between them suggest the sandhills, soakages and tracks of that long journey — the land read as a sequence of passages, each one distinct yet flowing into the next.

The palette is deliberately vivid. Pink and yellow are colours the artist embraced with characteristic boldness, layered against the earth reds of the desert and the cool blue of shadow and water. Up close, the surface reveals the energy of her mark-making: dots set so densely they merge into ribbons, lines that waver and breathe rather than sit rigidly. There is a sense of body and movement embedded in the paint itself, as though the rhythm of walking, sweeping and dancing has been pressed directly into the canvas.

Works from this Country are often described as jukurrpa for the snake vine, the ngalyipi, which grows around the trees and is gathered by women for ceremony. Here that pulse of growth, of reaching and winding, animates the whole picture plane — a celebration of women's Country rendered with confidence, warmth and an unmistakable visual joy.
