Murphy Foundry's own sculpture line gives its workshop team free rein to design objects purely for the pleasure of the form, and its small cast-bronze animals are among the most popular results. Each one is modelled first in clay, refined by hand, then taken through the lost-wax process to bronze, finished with a hand-applied patina that gives the metal its depth and movement. The animal subjects are chosen for character as much as accuracy, built to be held, turned and looked at from every angle rather than mounted flat on a wall.

Murphy Art Foundry was established in 2018 to give artists a way into a new medium: metal. It works alongside painters, glass artists and designers who want to see an idea realised in bronze or steel, translating their forms through modelling, moulding, casting, fabrication and finishing, and employs artists in the workshop to assist with that making. Under its own brand, Murphy Foundry, it also produces sculpture of its own - fun, curious and inventive objects in metal and bronze, stone and wood - designed by the Murphy Art creative team led by Keith Murphy, often in collaboration with other artists. Every piece is made by hand in the foundry's workshop, from the first clay or steel form to the final patina.
