Kudditji Kngwarreye, affectionately known as "Goob," was a senior Anmatyerre man from the Utopia region of the Northern Territory. Born around 1938 at Lallguora, he was the half brother (by skin relation) of renowned artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Kudditji led a traditional bush life, working as a stockman and mine worker before becoming a respected cultural custodian and one of Australia’s leading contemporary Indigenous artists.

He began painting in the mid-1980s, initially adopting the detailed dot and infill style that was popular at the time. However, Kudditji soon pursued a more intuitive, abstract form of expression. He developed a unique technique using thick brushstrokes and densely applied colour to portray his deep connection to his ancestral land around Boundary Bore, a site rich with Emu Dreaming and significant men's ceremonial sites.

His works reflect the spiritual and physical essence of his Country, evoking vast desert skies, shimmering heat, and sacred stories.
