Rowdy Warren throws paint the way wildflowers throw seed. Across a square the size of a doorway, dozens of blooms bust open in flicks of silver, white and black. Each flower is a small explosion. The petals read as spattered arcs, the stems as long thrown ribbons of ink that race from the bottom edge up toward the light.
The ground behind them shifts like weather. Soft green and teal cool the top corners. Warmer apricot and ochre pool through the middle and settle into a sunset orange along the base. It feels like a paddock caught at that moment just before dusk, when the sky can't decide what colour to be.
Warren works in a loose contemporary pop idiom. The gesture is fast and physical, closer to Pollock than botanical study, but the subject stays recognisable. These are daisies, or something daisy adjacent, scattered in a field. You can almost feel the flick of the wrist in every line. Little jolts of turquoise and red keep the eye moving between the heads.
What makes the piece sing is the tension between control and chaos. The flowers sit roughly where a composed painter would place them. The paint itself refuses to behave. Drips run. Lines whip past their marks. Splatter lands where it lands.
At this scale the work holds a wall on its own. Stand close and it is pure energy and texture. Step back and a meadow comes into focus, warm and alive and slightly wild. A generous, joyful statement piece for a room that can take a bit of noise.
