Sarrita King is a proud Gurindji Waanyi woman, born in Adelaide in 1988 and raised amid the storms and red earth of Darwin. The daughter of the late William King Jungala, whose people led the historic Wave Hill Walk-Off, she carries a legacy of connection to Country into every canvas. Since beginning to paint at sixteen, King has built an international reputation for works that read the land from above — lightning, fire, sand dunes and shifting elemental forces rendered with extraordinary depth. Her practice fuses traditional dotting with methods passed down from her father, producing paintings that feel less like pictures of a place than direct transmissions of its energy, weather and memory.
