Sollai Cartwright is an Australian sculptor specializing in Carrara marble and bronze. Born in rural Victoria in 1988, he trained in traditional carving techniques under Italian artisans in Pietrasanta. He returns annually to source his marble from the historic Carrara quarries, the same source Michelangelo used for masterpieces including The David and The Pietà. Based in Melbourne, Cartwright creates abstract forms inspired by nature, viewing his practice as collaboration between artist and material. His work has been exhibited internationally, including Sculpture by the Sea, Art Central Hong Kong, and Australia House London. His sculptures are held in distinguished private collections across Australia, Europe, and Asia.
