Collection: George Hairbrush Tjungurrayi
Tjungurrayi’s style evolved from early Papunya geometric forms to a refined, minimalist aesthetic, characterised by intricate parallel lines and abstract spatial rhythms. His
signature linear technique—echoing body paint, sand patterns, and ceremonial carvings—established him as one of the most recognisable and influential artists of his generation.
By the late 1990s, his work was in high demand. His debut solo shows in 1997 and 1998 were sell-outs, and in 2003, Australian Art Collector named him among the “50 Most Collectable Artists.” His paintings are held in major public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
