Debra Nangala McDonald (b. 1961, Papunya, Northern Territory) is a celebrated Pintupi artist whose practice is deeply rooted in her ancestral heritage and cultural legacy. She comes from a distinguished lineage of artists and cultural custodians. Her grandfather, Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi, was a renowned clan leader, ngangkari (traditional healer), and one of the founding figures of the Western Desert art movement in the 1970s. His influence remains central to Debra’s storytelling and style.
